This app is dedicated to travel most specifically flights, accommodation, and activities. After conducting research on the subject of travel, I synthesized the information gathered from 5 interviews and survey to find out the current issues with travel, and how to solve it. Those issues formed the features that are displayed in this app.

1. Have you traveled recently? If so, when?
2. How often and why do you travel?
3. What locations have you traveled to?
4. What was one of your favorite trips, and why?
5. How does traveling normally make you feel?
6. Walk me through what your typical planning process looks like.
7. When do you normally begin the planning process? How far out in advance?
8. Can you tell me how you choose your destination and where you will stay when you arrive? Why?
9. Do you use any specific apps/websites for planning or while you are on your trip? If so, which apps/websites do you use and why?
10. How do you get around once you are in your destination?
11. What activities do you like to do while traveling. How and when do you plan them?
12. Do you prefer to go out to eat or make meals at your own accommodation?
13. Do you plan for the unpredictable? If so, how?
14. Give me a few examples of something that happened while traveling that frustrated you.
15. What do you think could make traveling an easier process?
During the interviews with Angie, Brandon, and Jamil, I gained valuable insight into the way people travel. For example, most use several different websites or apps to prepare for a trip.
If you want to read more about the responses from the interviews, click the button below.
1. What age range do you fall into?
2. What is your current work status?
3. Who do you normally travel with?
4. How often do you travel a year?
5. How do you normally pick where you travel? (Ex. Instagram, Pinterest, recommendations, etc.)
6. What are some things that frustrate you about the travel experience?
7. If you could change one or two things about traveling what would it be?
8. What is the best part of traveling?
9. What do you think would help make you travel experience smoother?
10. Any other comments?
I set out a survey and gained 41 responses This is the breakdown.
There were write in responses which varied for questions 5, 6,7,9, and 10. The most popular response for question 8 with 87.8% was "getting to see new places".For a breakdown of the responses click the button below.

When doing the affinity diagram, the information received from both interviews and surveys were grouped under 9 categories. These categories are:
• Changes to Travel Experience
• Reasons for Travel
• Travel Partners
• The Process
• Best Part of Traveling
• Length of Stay
• Website Used
• Methods of Travel
• Frustrations
The affinity diagram influenced the I Like, I Wish, What If process, which is a process that helps a person brainstorm ideas that could possibly lead to features based on feedback from the affinity diagram or user insights. These ideas then get placed on the feature prioritization matrix and categorized into either high priority, high impact, or high priority low impact, or low priority high impact, or low priority low impact.

The empathy map shows what the user may think, feel, do, or say as it relates to travel.

Valerie Omar, the user persona, is a single 24 year old recent graduate, who is currently an assistant interior designer. She enjoys traveling especially with her friends or family. Her needs consist of affordable transportation, inexpensive accommodation, and group discounts. Some of her pain points would be expensive flights and accommodation, unexpected costs, wait times, and delayed flights.
A frustrated traveller needs a better way to find more affordable prices for flights, accommodation, and activities so that the stress and time of booking and planning for a trip can significantly reduce, thereby increasing overall health and allowing the use of time for other things.
Websites like Expedia, Hotwire, and Priceline were designed for booking flights and accommodation, while Airbnb is just for booking accommodation. Meanwhile, Tripadvisor and Google are used for finding activities to do in different locations all around the world. We have observed that it takes a traveller, more specifically family travelers, longer to book a flight, get accommodation, and find activities to do. Which is causing the process of booking and planning for a vacation more time consuming and stressful. How might we improve the process of booking flights, getting accommodation, and finding activities, so that travelers are able to get the best prices and spend less time in this part of the planning process?

During the feature prioritization matrix, I gathered information received from the affinity diagram and found which ideas fit in the high priority high impact quadrant.
The journey map is are the highs and lows that Valerie may experience as she is preparing for her trip to Paris, France with a few friends. It shows how the app, based on the features, could aid her on her trip.

This user flow has 5 distinct paths as well as the onboarding process. The paths are flight, place, deals, transportation, and things to do,

Below are a few of the sketches I created when trying to find out the route to take with the information received.

When creating the wireframes, I took the sketches I created and fleshed them out. I then started to iterate after testing the wireframes I created.

This is a break down of the wireframes I originally created. I elaborated on each aspect of the app and changed the design of the home screen. After, going through my wireframes and taking a look at the information I received through surveys and interviews, I realized that I was trying to recreate what already existed. My responses were mainly about finding deals for flights, accommodation, activities, and finding reliable transportation. So, I did the wireframes over again to reflect that.

The iterated wireframe prototype was created with Adobe XD, it can also be viewed by clicking the button below.
When creating the home screen, I wanted the user to have the option of putting in the destination of their choice and filtering results for flights, places, transport, community, and activities. The feature "Deals "was taking away since the app became focused on finding deals related to flights, and places most specifically and offering money saving options to activities and transport.

After designing the wireframes and creating a clickable prototype. I put together two tasks for my participants. I wanted them to go through the process of creating an account and booking a flight. You can view the usability testing plan here.
After iterating on my design, and fleshing out the wireframes, I tested it again with a more detailed usability testing plan. You can view the usability tests.
